A Spring Wedding at Blue Sky Farm
Last spring, I had the chance to work as a second shooter for a wedding at The Barn at Blue Sky Farm, alongside Harry MacLaughlin, a Charlotte wedding photographer whose reputation precedes him. It was my first time working with Harry, and I was struck by his kindness and professionalism. He made the day feel effortless, guiding me through the rhythm of the event with a calm, encouraging presence. For a first-time collaboration, it was a dream.
The Barn at Blue Sky Farm a venue in Dallas, NC was the perfect backdrop for this wedding. Tucked in a serene corner of the countryside, the venue felt fresh and alive, with spring’s warmth breathing life into every detail. The barn’s rustic charm, paired with blooming wildflowers and soft sunlight, created a setting that was both intimate and vibrant. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger, camera in hand, capturing every moment.
What stood out most was something I’d never seen at a wedding before: a translator. The ceremony was primarily in Spanish, heartfelt vows and all, but a translator seamlessly relayed everything into English for guests who needed it. They wore sleek earpieces, not unlike AirPods, that carried the translated words in real time. It was such a thoughtful touch, bridging languages and bringing everyone together in a way that felt natural and inclusive. I couldn’t stop marveling at how smoothly it worked.
The spring weather was a gift. Mild breezes and clear skies made the day feel like a celebration of not just love, but the season itself. As a wedding photographer, I’m used to chasing light, and Blue Sky Farm delivered. This wedding at Blue Sky Farm was a reminder of why I love wedding photography. It’s about capturing a story, one that’s unique to every couple. The Barn at Blue Sky Farm, with its fresh spring air and that innovative translator, made this day unforgettable. I’ll always cherish the chance Harry gave me to have been part of it.
